Crowds gather for Seán Quinn rally

Seán Quinn at last July's rally in Co Cavan.

A large number of people have gathered in Ballyconnell in Co Cavan for another rally in support of local businessman Seán Quinn and his family.

Many are angry at how the Quinn family have been treated by the former Anglo Irish Bank.

The Quinns are suing the bank, now known as IBRC, for alleged fraud, claiming that more than €2bn worth of loans given to them by the bank are unlawful, because they were used to prop up Anglo's collapsing share price.

The rally is taking place while Seán Quinn junior – the son of Seán Quinn, who founded the Quinn Group – remains in prison in Dublin after being found to be in contempt of court.
