Credit unions top survey of customer satisfaction. Can you guess who came last?

Credit Unions provide the best customer experience in Ireland according to a new report, while Irish Water was the lowest scoring of all 170 brands in the survey.

The Irish Customer Experience Survey by Amarách Research reveals that Lush cosmetics and An Post are in second and third place.

Meanwhile Luas dropped a massive 105 places to 127, having been at number 22 last year. Its strikes during the summer left customers without any service for 22 days.

Chairman of Amarách Research Gerard O'Neill said Irish people were very sensitive to poor customer experience.

"Customers value the personal touch, and a sense of being appreciated," he said.

"(The country's 339) credit unions unions do a spectacular job in that regard."

For the survey, which looked at more than 42,000 cases across 170 brands. companies were ranked across six areas: personalisation, time and effort, integrity, empathy, expectations, and resolution.

Ryanair, which has put a huge push on customer sewrvice ib the last year, entered the top 100 for the first time, although Aer Lingus still leads it for customer satisfaction.

Insurance companies fared badly, with none of the 10 Irish car insurers in the top 100 brands.

The report was commissioned by Customer Experience Insights (CXi).

Michael Killeen of CXi said: "All 339 Credit unions share the same ethos. They are a customer centric business and their culture, behaviours and activity flow from this. Looking after members comes naturally to staff while trust is at the heart of their customer relationships."

The top 10 brands among Irish customers were:

  • Irish Credit Union
  • Lush
  • An Post
  • Sam McCauley Pharmacies
  • Citylink
  • Peter Mark
  • Boots
  • Aldi
