Coveney hopeful of CAP deal today

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney has said he is hopeful a deal on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy can be agreed by EU Ministers at a crunch meeting in Brussels today.
Around €50bn is distributed to European farmers under CAP every year, of which Irish farmers get around €1.5bn.
The EU Commission is seeking changes to how the money is distributed.
Speaking ahead of the second day of talks, Minister Coveney said a document would be put to Ministers this morning, before private talks this afternoon.
"We need to put a package together that everyone can live with," he said. "For Ireland for example, direct payments and internal convergence are key issues. For other countries, that's not such an issue, but they may have other key issues.
"We're tried to accommodate key concerns."
