Court: Nevin's murder conviction can be admitted in inheritance action

Catherine Nevin

The High Court has ruled that Catherine Nevin's murder conviction can be admitted as evidence in a civil action by her husband's family who are trying to stop her inheriting his assets.

The 61-year-old is serving a life sentence over the death of Tom Nevin who was shot at Jack White's pub near Brittas Bay, Co Wicklow in 1996.

The court found that to rule her conviction inadmissible in the inheritance proceedings would be "contrary to logic and common sense".

However, it is still open to Catherine Nevin to argue that she is not responsible for her husband's death.
