Councillor McGuinness quits Fianna Fáil

Another Fianna Fáil councillor has resigned from the party just weeks after being told he could not contest the general election.

David McGuinness has quit the party six weeks after losing at the convention to run for the party in Dublin West.

Councillor McGuinness had already run in two by-elections - coming second on each occasion.

In a statement he said Micheál Martin and the Fianna Fail leadership has done nothing to rebuild the trust of communities across the country.
