The winners of the 51st BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition for 2015 have been announced.

They are Ian O’Sullivan and Eimear Murphy from Kanturk in Co Cork.

The pair took the overall title for their project entitled, ‘Alcohol consumption: Does the apple fall far from the tree?’.

Their study aimed to identify one potential cause of hazardous drinking in teenagers, parental drinking habits and attitudes to their children's drinking.

Ian and Eimear will now go on to represent Ireland at the 27th European Union Young Scientist competition taking place in September in Milan.

Meanwhile, the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition continues tomorrow for a fourth and final day.
