The Consumers Association has expressed concern about declining competition in the Irish fuel retail market.

The Consumers Association has expressed concern about declining competition in the Irish fuel retail market.

In 1996, almost 2,500 petrol stations were operating in Ireland, but this has since halved to just 1,200.

The organisation says this resulted in less price competition and less choice for motorists.
