Consultants to re-enter talks on new work practices

Consultants will re-enter talks with HSE officials later, over the issue of new work practices.
They are at the Labour Relations Commission this weekend, trying to seek an agreement, before tomorrow night's deadline, which was imposed by Health Minister James Reilly.
Since consultants' pay is protected under the Croke Park Agreement, the HSE wants greater flexibility over working arrangements, roster patterns and the creation of a new entry grade of doctors.
If they fail to reach agreement, the matter will be referred to the Labour Court for a binding resolution.
The talks are due to resume at 10am in Dublin.
