Consultants deal has 'effectively collapsed'


Last month's deal between the government and hospital consultants on work practices brokered at the Labour Relations Commission has effectively collapsed

The news comes after HSE management said last night that it had failed to get the cooperation of the Irish Hospital Consultants Association and the Irish Medical Organisation on the implementation of the reforms from November 5.

The health minister James Reilly said last month that the deal could result in savings of €200m in the health budget.
