Connacht Whiskey Distillery to announce 40 jobs in Mayo

Forty new jobs are being announced in County Mayo this morning.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny will unveil details of the new positions at Connacht Whiskey Distillery in Ballina later.

The jobs will be based in the areas of operations, HR, Admin, IT and Finance.

David Stapleton, Managing Director of the Connacht Whiskey Distillery, explains why Irish companies in the sector are doing so well.

Mr Stapleton said: "The US has a huge appetite for Irish whiskey at the moment, and as it's our single biggest market, the scale of that market is so vast that it's creating a lot of opportunities for craft distilleries like ourselves.

"We are live, our infrastructure is in place, so we are looking forward being able to launch our products in 2016."
