Computers with sensitive data stolen from medical centre

Gardaí and the HSE are investigating the theft of 15 laptops from a medical centre in Roscommon town during the weekend.

Gardaí and the HSE are investigating the theft of 15 laptops from a medical centre in Roscommon town during the weekend.

The HSE says the computers were stolen during a break-in at the Roscommon Primary Care Centre.

Thirteen of the laptops were encrypted to safeguard the information they contained, but the remaining two were not.

The HSE says it is working to establish what information was stored on those two machines.

It also says the gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry in relation to the matter.
