Commuters to face severe delays tomorrow as Luas drivers strike

Commuters are facing severe delays tomorrow, as Luas drivers are due to hold another full day of strike action.

Luas operator Transdev is calling on SIPTU to call off the strike, which will be the 12th in the long running row over pay.

The company says it has no desire to prolong the dispute, and is available for discussions with the trade union immediately.

Managing Director of Transdev Gerry Madden, believes there has been a change in attitude among drivers.

"I'm in every day here and there's growing evidence from the drivers, that are prepared to talk to myself and other people, that they find it extremely frustrating.

"I think that they believe that the strikes are probably not having the desired impact, and I just get a growing sense that they're reaching out for a deal, and if they are and they are in the right space I want to leave my door open for that."
