Commercial Court asked to approve eircom survival plan

The Commercial Court is being asked to approve a survival scheme for eircom that will see 1,000 redundancies over a number of years.
The examiner is proposing a five-year plan that includes capital investment of €1.5bn in the telecoms group.
Eircom has around one million fixed-line customers and owns mobile operator Meteor.
The group employs nearly 6,000 people.
