Hellraiser Colin Farrell has hit out at the smoking ban.

Tobacco-loving Farrell is not amused by the ban, which was introduced in March.

The actor - who divides his time between Hollywood and Dublin - says: "I get the no-smoking-in-bars rule. I understand it because it's a health thing, so it's there for people's benefit if they want it.

"But what they should do is have smoking bars and non-smoking bars so that you can have a choice. Because, otherwise, if you're going to say smoking is unhealthy then they should stop every car in the world because petrol is unhealthy, too.

"And while they're about it they should also make aerosol cans illegal. If they're going to make rules, they should put their f***ing money where their mouth is. I dare any government to do that and lose the money they're making in taxes. So the answer is, no, I don't set out to break rules because the ones I break I didn't make."
