Coastguard rescues man from Howth Head cliff

The coastguard has come to the rescue of a tourist who became trapped on a cliff edge on Howth Head.

The man in his 30s lost his way returning from the beach this afternoon and ended up stuck beside a 50-metre drop.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public who spotted the man near Whitewater Brook.

The coastguard helicopter airlifted him to safety. He is said to be shaken, but otherwise in good health.
