Ciarán Noonan abduction: Man charged with manslaughter

A 35-year-old man has been charged with killing father-of-one Ciaran Noonan who died after he went missing from East Wall in Dublin last October.
Mr Noonan, who was living in Ashbourne, Co Meath but originally from the East Wall area, was last seen getting into a car on October 20 last.
The 29-year-old's remains were discovered on November 4, dumped in a field at Tullaghmeaden, about six miles outside Trim, Co Meath.
On November 25 last, Mark Allen with an address at Wellview Avenue, in Mulhuddart, in Dublin was charged with the false imprisonment of Mr Noonan at Russell Ave, in East Wall, on October 20 last.
Mr Allen, who is originally from Coolock, in Dublin, had been remanded in custody but was later granted High Court bail in the sum of €30,000.
The unemployed father-of-one, who had previously worked as a floor layer, appeared again at Dublin District Court today where he faced an additional charge for the manslaughter of Mr Noonan at an unknown location, on October 20 last.
Garda Sergeant Dave Gallagher of Store Street station told Judge Grainne Malone that Mr Allen was charged this morning after which “he made no reply”.
Judge Malone noted that the State was seeking six weeks to complete the book of evidence in the case and there was no objection to the existing bail terms being extended to the new charge.
Mr Allen, who was wearing a grey jacket, green combat trousers and dark blue runners, did not address the court during the brief hearing and has not yet indicated how he intends to plead to the charges.
Defence solicitor Yvonne Banbury said her client has already had to wait a considerable period of time for the DPP's directions to be obtained and he is “anxious for some progress to be made”.
Judge Malone granted legal aid and ordered Mr Allen to appear again on June 19 next when he is to be served with a book of evidence.
