Christmas comes early for Lotto-winning Wexford nurses

Seventeen nurses from Wexford General Hospital got an early Christmas present when they picked up their €2.8m winnings at the National Lottery HQ in Dublin today.

The group won last Wednesday’s jackpot on their lucky 64 multi-draw ticket, which they purchased at The Kiosk, in Enniscorthy.

They will each take home more than €170,000.

The syndicate was formed in 1998 by a group of nurses working in the coronary care unit of Wexford General Hospital.

Eleven of the group are now retired and six still work at the hospital in various departments.

Tonight’s Lotto jackpot is an estimated €2.5m.
