Children found in 'cheap kid's dinghy' off Dublin coast

The Irish Coast Guard has warned people about water safety after they found two children off the coast of Dublin last night in a supermarket dinghy.

A routine patrol came across the children in the tiny vessel in the waters off Howth in north counry Dublin.

They were wearing swimming armbands as flotation aids.

The Coast Guard said it was a common sight for them during the recent warm weather.

They said: "This 'vessel' was encountered by our boat based in Howth tonight while out on safety monitoring and training.

"It is a cheap kid's dinghy with the occupants wearing swimming armbands as a flotation aid.

"They were taken aboard for their own safety and brought back to Howth harbour."
