Chief Justice calls for Court of Appeal referendum


The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is calling for a referendum to be held, so that a new Court of Appeal can be established.

Susan Denham says the four-and-a-half year backlog in getting appeals heard in the Supreme Court is unsustainable and indefensible.

She says Ireland's economy and society could be damaged if the delay isn't dealt with.
