Charity almost doubles spend on struggling households

St. Vincent de Paul says it is spending almost €80m per year helping struggling households - almost double what it spent in 2006.

The charity is set to launch its pre-budget submission for 2015 later this morning and the group is calling on the Government to "plan for the right kind of recovery".

In 2012, the group says it spent more than €22m on food and cash assistance while over €11m was spent on helping households with their energy costs.
