People will soon be able to get the pneumonia and shingles vaccines from their pharmacist.
The Health Minister has changed the laws which up to now only allowed the medicines to be administered by GPs.
He will also allow life-saving medicines like epipens for allergic reactions to be administered in schools, shopping centres and sports clubs.
Leo Varadkar has said pharmacists administering the flu vaccine has worked really well.
“When it comes to the vaccines… at the moment they can only be given by a GP or in the hospital…” Minister Varadkar said.
“Pharmacists have been really good at giving the flu vaccine and they want to do more and I think we should allow them to do more”.
