Central Bank to allow 'certain unsolicited' lender calls

The Central Bank has moved to clarify its rules of engagement for banks dealing with customers in arrears, saying that "unsolicited" home visits can be made in certain circumstances.
It also said that the monthly limit of three phone calls from a lender does not include missed calls or engaged numbers.
The Central Bank has also clarified how a lender can make an "unsolicited personal visit" in relation to arrears prior to taking legal action, when all other attempts at contact have failed.
The clarification has been sent in a letter to all of the country's lenders.
