Convenience store chain Centra says it will be creating around 400 new jobs this year.

The retailer plans to open an additional 20 stores countrywide.

Figures released today show that Centra recorded sales of €1.48bn in 2013, an increase of 3.5% on the previous year.

Earlier, 50 new jobs are being created in Cork, at Zevas on the Monahan Road and Alexion, a pharmaceutical company, has announced 40 positions in Athlone.
