CAO applications hit record high

More than 90% of Irish students stay in school to complete the Leaving Certificate.

A new report from the Department of Education shows that the number of students finishing second-level education is among the highest in the EU.

Meanwhile, CAO applications have hit a record high this year, with 73,063 applying before the end of Saturday's deadline.

General Secretary of the Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland Pat King says the figures finishing school are encouraging.
