A campaign of action is being launched against planned cuts to the pay of student nurses and midwives.
It comes after the Government announced the phasing out of wages for fourth year students who have traditionally been paid 80% what a staff nurse earns during their nine-month placement on hospital wards.
The Department of Health intends to abolish this payment altogether by 2015.
But General Secretary of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, Liam Doran, said they will not stand for it.
