Calorie labelling widespread in fast food sector, but not restaurants

Three quarters of all fast food restaurants now include a calorie count on their menus, according to figures from the Department of Health.

Half of all coffee shop chains are now listing calories, while 43%of catering companies had put calorie menu labeling in place.

Restaurants are still opposed to the measure, however. The Restaurant Association of Ireland said the idea is simply not feasible for many of its members.
