There are calls for a full investigation into the policing of disturbances at a rally in Dublin yesterday.
Two people, including an RTE cameraman, were reportedly hospitalised following clashes as Gardaí used batons to separate a group of anti-racism protesters from members of the far-right group Pegida.
The Green party is calling for a Garda Ombudsman investigation - while RTE has said it will lodge a formal complaint regarding the incident.
Green Party Councillor Ciaran Cuffe has said the protest was largely peaceful: “I was there early on in the proceedings and essentially there was a large group of between one and two thousand people expressing their concern at the proposal to have a far right anti-immigration party establishing itself in Ireland.”
