Former Junior Minister and Fianna Fáil TD Ivor Callely has been arrested in connection with alleged fraud.

Mr Callely is expected to appear in court later this morning to face six charges in relation to mobile phone expenses.

He was arrested by gardaí from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation this morning and taken to Clontarf Garda station.

The former Junior Minister was questioned last year in connection with alleged theft and fraud offences.

Following a recommendation by the DPP, it is understood he is to be charged with six offences relating to mobile phone expenses.

He will be brought in garda custody from Clontarf to the Criminal Courts of Justice at Parkgate St later today, to formally face charges.
