Calleary admits Fianna Fáil is divided

A senior Fianna Fáil frontbench member admits there is division in the party over its position on abortion legislation.

Dara Calleary says the party - which is pro life - will wait to see the specific proposals before revealing its stance on the matter.

He's also rejecting claims his party failed to address the abortion issue during its previous time in power.

Dara Calleary says while there are differences of opinion he accepts the X-case has to be dealt with.

"I'm not saying there's no division, there are different views on it. There are in every part of the country.

"We will have discussions about it when we have something in front of us. We will articulate positions once they are there."
