Budget reported to set aside more money for health and education

The final touches are being put in place for Budget 2016.

A cut in the Universal Social Charge is one of the main measures likely to be announced on Tuesday.

The Irish Times has reported that the Department of Health is set to receive another €600m, with more than €400m for Social Protection; €100m for transport and €50m for education.

With the state finances healthier than expected, the coalition has already committed to paying a Christmas bonus for those on social welfare.
