Bruton: We must look for successor to Croke Park Agreement

The Jobs and Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton has said the Government has to look ahead to a successor to the Croke Park agreement.

Richard Bruton made the comments as the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party gathers in Co Mayo for its think in ahead of the new Dáil term.

Yesterday, the Public Sector Reform Minister Brian Hayes said he would support a second Croke Park deal.

This morning, Minister Bruton said the Government is obliged to think about what will replace the agreement, when it runs out in 2014.

Mr Bruton said: "Clearly we have to look ahead to what are the reforms that must carry momentum from 2013 to 2014 and 2015 and so on.

"I think the wider agenda requires us to look afresh at what a successor to Croke Park would look like, where is the boot going to pinch and what sort of things can we discuss that would make that easier."
