Bruton: Govt has to be 'resolute' in difficult decisions

The Jobs and Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton has said the Government is united in making tough decisions, despite the resignation of Labour's Willie Penrose.
The Housing Minister and Labour TD for Longford-Westmeath stepped down yesterday after the Cabinet decided to close Columb Barracks in Mullingar.
Three other barracks in Clonmel, Cavan and Castlebar will also shut.
Minister Bruton said the resignation is a blow, but emphasised that the Government has been elected to make "tough decisions regardless of personal feelings".
Mr Bruton said: "The Government is in a situation where a lot of difficult decisions have to be made, not just now, but over a number of years.
"We do have to be resolute and move ahead with those and that is what we have been elected to do. We have to keep going regardless of the personal disappointment and the difficulty this creates for all of us as colleagues of Willie."
