British government criticised in second Barron report

17/11/2004 - 22:47:07
The British government has failed to cooperate with the second Barron report which was published tonight.

That is one of the main findings of the inquiry which probed certain atrocities in the Republic during the early 1970's

His 142 page report suggests that British military intelligence may have assisted in the loyalist bombing of Sackville Place in Dublin in December 1972.

Several attempts by Justice Barron to obtain co-operation by the British about the operation of spies in the republic at that time proved fruitless.

This is the second time the British have come out bad by Justice Barron

The first report by the judge into the 1974 Dublin bombing was notable for the lack of assistance by the British.

Justice Henry Barron is currently working on two further reports in two suspicious atrocities from the same period.
