Brendan Howlin: 'Normal inquiry into NAMA's Project Eagle will not work'

The Labour leader says a "normal inquiry" into NAMA's Project Eagle will not work.

Brendan Howlin and other opposition TDs have until today to give their views to the Taoiseach on how a Commission of Investigation into the sale of the northern loanbook would work.

He says some means of an all-island inquiry has to be found: "The normal inquiry will not be sufficent, because so much of the evidence including the witnesses are in the north of Ireland.

"They are outside the reach of an investigation in the Republic.

"So I have suggested and we have actually published legislation for a new hybrid inquiry, north, south inquiry."
