Green Party chairman Dan Boyle today said there has been no discussion yet about how much student registration fees will increase in the Budget.

It follows reports that students could face fees of up to €3,000 from next year onwards.

Senator Boyle said there's a big difference between higher registration fees and the reintroduction of full college fees.

"There is an expectation that there will be an increase in the registration fee," Senator Boyle said.

"It hasn't bee talked about to what extent yet, but we still that that that's significantly different from the reintroduction of tuition fees, which if they were reintroduced now would be in the region of €10,000."
