There have been calls for the Minister for Communications to investigate alleged disruption of mobile phone coverage in the north-east.
It is being claimed that mobile coverage in the border counties has been damaged since the G8 summit was held in Fermanagh earlier this year.
Before the summit, laws were passed allowing the Irish government to shut down mobile phone networks in the event of a security risk.
Fianna Fáil Senator Diarmuid Wilson said coverage in those areas has never recovered since the summit six months ago.
"Whatever interference that occurred … it hasn't been rectified, and there's a deplorabel service available now to the community," he said.
