Bord Gáis index remains stable


For the first time in seven months the price of energy has not gone up.

Bord Gáis's energy index, out today, shows the cost of energy stabilised in April.

Analysts said the easing of geopolitical tensions, double-dip recessions in Britain and Spain, poor manufacturing numbers from China, and sovereignty concerns in Europe all contributed to the stabilisation.

John Heffernan, a power trader at Bord Gáis Energy, has said the biggest factor though, was demand.
