A body has been recovered from the sea off Co Clare this evening.
Irish Coast Guard teams from Doolin had been searching for the body of man seen falling from the Cliffs of Moher on Monday evening.
Gardaí and the Sligo based search and rescue helicopter Rescue 118 were also involved in last nights search.
While the body was located soon after the incident, it was too close to the shoreline at the base of the cliffs for rescue teams to make a safe recovery.
The operation was stood down but resumed early this morning.
Following several hours of searches today, a member of the public contacted the Coast Guard this evening to report a possible sighting south of the main viewing platform.
A body was recovered from the sea by the Doolin Coast Guard team at around 6.30pm.
The Shannon based search and rescue helicopter, Rescue 115, was also involved in the recovery operation.
The body was recovered to Doolin Coast Guard station before being removed to University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem examination is expected to be carried out.
