The Irish Catholic Bishop's conference has published a document marking one year since the Pope's pastoral letter.

"Towards Healing and Renewal" is being made available to the public at churches around the country and online this evening.

Cardinal Sean Brady has encouraged people to read the response to the key issues raised by Pope Benedict last March.

The document outlines initiatives the Bishops hope will enhance support for survivors of abuse.

Andrew Madden, author of 'Altar Boy - the Story of Life after Abuse', said the response does not go far enough.
