The clinical directors of Beaumont Hospital in Dublin say the new National Children's Hospital should be built at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
They have been working with Connolly Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons to create an Academic Health Centre, and they are united in supporting the proposal.
Outlining their reasons in a statement today, the directors say the Connolly site offers the best access to all children around the country for medical care, with unparalleled potential for inevitable expansion and development.
The group says they have a long history of paediatric care in specialist areas, as well as treating teenagers making the transition to adult care.
This, they say, means it would be possible for them to be looked after at Connolly, avoiding the need for sick children having to travel on the M50 for further care.
