Met Éireann has said the weather will remain very unsettled up to and including the middle of next week.

Today, the south will get the worst of the weather with widespread rain. Highest temperatures will be between 9C and 12C.

Tomorrow will be mostly overcast with rain, heavy at times, and with a risk of thunder. Highest temperatures 8C to 13C, in a moderate to fresh southeasterly wind.

Further outbreaks of rain will occur, heavy at times, on Sunday. Some bright or sunny spells will also develop, as more persistent rain gives way to scattered showers. It will be mild, with temperatures up to 16C.

There will be a mixture of bright spells and further outbreaks of rain over the weekend.
