Ballyfermot body parts found to belong to same person

Gardaí have confirmed that body parts found at a recycling centre in Dublin are from a man.

Part of a leg was discovered last Thursday night at Thorntons recycling in Ballyfermot.

A lower leg was found on Friday, along with other flesh and bones.

These body parts were removed to Tallaght Hospital where a post mortem examination was carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis.

DNA analysis has determined that the body parts are male and both come from the same person. A cause of death has yet to be determined.

A forensic anthropologist is being brought in to help with the case.
