Baby on table when ambulance crew arrived, murder trial hears23/04/2012 - 18:23:04
The trial of a man accused of murdering his ex-fiancée's baby at their home, has heard evidence the infant was lying naked on a table when ambulance crew arrived.
Philip Doyle of Tinakilly, Aughrim, Co Wicklow has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to murdering three-and-a-half-month-old Ross Murphy at Creagh Demesne, Gorey, Co Wexford on April 5, 2005.
The child's mother, Leona Murphy, who is now expecting her third child, previously told the court that on April 3 she went out to get a DVD, leaving her firstborn alone with Mr Doyle in the house they shared at Creagh Demesne.
Emergency medical technician Ray Lacey told the court today that he received a call on April 3, saying that a baby was very unwell and he was told the infant was in possible cardiac arrest, which he said was very unusual for a child.
