Average weekly wage up by 0.4%
The average Irish weekly wage is rising, but at a slower rate than the cost of living, according to new data published today.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show the average earner is paid a gross wage of €696 per week.
That's an increase of 0.4% compared to the same period last year - but the cost of living rose by 0.7% in the same period.
The CSO figures also suggest that public sector pay has risen by 1.3% over the 12 months to the end of June, at a higher rate than wages in the private sector.
