Average person piles on seven pounds over Christmas
The average person puts on half a stone over the festive period.
The Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute says many of us clock up as much as 6,000 calories on Christmas Day alone.
But the joyous overeating is often followed by strict resolutions to shift the weight in the new year.
