A 23-year-old man from Athlone, Co Westmeath, has died in an accident in Spain.

A 23-year-old man from Athlone, Co Westmeath, has died in an accident in Spain.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed they have been informed of the incident, and are providing consular assistance to the man's family.

The man is understood to have been on a visit to the country.
