Army bomb squad called to Cavan school


The army bomb squad was called to a school in Cavan town yesterday evening.

A chemical in the lab at St Patricks College was suspected of having become unstable over time.

The team arrived at the scene at about 6.45pm after a call from the Gardaí.

They removed the chemical to a safe location before carrying out a controlled explosion.

The area was declared safe at around 8pm.
