Anxious students await A-level results
Thousands of Northern A-level students were today awaiting make-or-break exam results, which could determine their futures.
Grades for A and AS-level examinations are due to arrive this morning, prompting a scramble for university places and jobs.
A special helpline has been set up to support anxious students and parents at the most stressful time of the year for pupils.
Results from all the exam boards in the North, Wales and England will be issued at the same time today. GCSE marks are due on August 22.
CCEA has praised local teachers who helped underpin the exams process.
Neil Anderson, director of operations at CCEA, said: “They are the unsung heroes of the examining process, ensuring that students are awarded the grades they deserve and that everyone is treated fairly.
“On completion of marking this year, almost 1,000 meetings took place involving the professional specialists whose painstaking work determines the grades awarded to candidates in each subject.”
