Anti-stress exam guide launched

Pharmacists have launched an anti-stress guide for students preparing for summer exams.

Several conditions can “flare up” under the pressure of study but can be easily avoided if care is taken, the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) said.

It has advised students sitting tests to beware of ailments including headaches, stomach upsets, eczema and asthma.

Pharmacist John Gleeson said their online guide was pitched particularly at college students and those sitting the Leaving Certificate in the next two weeks.

“Exam stress can manifest itself in the body in a number of ways, so we encourage students to ask their pharmacist about any health concerns they have,” he said.

“The flare-up of certain conditions can add further stress to a student who is already feeling the pressure of exam revision.”
