Anti-austerity group holds Dublin demonstration

The Anit-Austerity Alliance is calling for an end to austerity and a new financial policy, as Ireland exits the Bailout.

The group is holding a demonstration in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

Speaking at today's demonstration, Dublin man Michael O' Brien outlined alternatives to austerity measures..

"We need to repudiate the debt and the interest on the debt" he said.

"[We need to] go after the all the under-taxed sources of wealth - the likes of corporation tax. 8% effective rate is too low … they're the sources we need to go after."

The Alliance, which is applying for registration as a new political party, is to field forty candidates across the country for the 2014 local elections.
